What is Chaikin Analytics?
Chaikin Analytics is a stock research platform that is designed to provide investors and money managers with information that enhances their decision-making.
Chaikin Analytics was founded by Marc Chaikin in 2011 but he initially named it Chaikin Stock Research.
The main feature of Chaikin Analytics is the Chaikin Power Gauge stock-rating system. Marc and other experts combine the rating system with their research and expert insights, support, and education.
Barron’s newspaper named Chaikin Analytics one of the “Two Top Websites for Quantitative Analysis” in 2016.
The Chaikin Power Gauge Rating
The Chaikin Power Gauge Rating is a stock-rating system that utilizes a basic color scheme to show the investment potential of a stock. The Power Gauge was back-tested on 10 years of data before it was launched.
The color coding aspect is reminiscent of Keith Kaplan’s TradeStops system that we’ve covered extensively in our reviews of presentations like Keith Kaplan’s Retirement Calculator, The 4X Stock Booster Summit, and The Portfolio X-Ray.
The Chaikin Power Gauge Rating system’s color code is as follows:
- Red shows that a stock is bearish.
- Yellow indicates a neutral rating.
- Green indicates a bullish stock.
To arrive at these ratings, The Chaikin Power Gauge Rating system uses 20 factors that are divided into four categories: financial metrics, earnings performance, price-volume activity, and expert opinions.
The Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) is also part of the rating system and we will be taking a closer look at it below.
Marc Chaikin partnered with Nasdaq in 2014 to overlay the Chaikin Power Gauge stock rating on three well-known stock indexes by Nasdaq: Large Cap, Small Cap, and Dividend Achievers. In 2017, the firm partnered with Nasdaq and IndexIQ to bring the rating system to the ETF marketplace.

Chaikin Money Flow
The Chaikin Money Flow is a popular indicator on Wall Street. It measures the money flow volume over a specified period (usually 20-21 days).
The indicator moves above and below the zero line to indicate a bullish or bearish trend. It is used in the calculation of Chaikin’s Accumulation/Distribution (AD).
It has a green/red oscillator around a 0-line, which goes from +100 to -100. Green represents net buying pressure, and red represents net selling pressure.
Its premise is that buying support is shown by increased volume and repeated closes in the top half of the daily range and selling pressure is shown by increased volume and recurrent closes in the lower half of the daily range.
When there is buying support, prices go up and when there is selling pressure, the prices tend to go down. The result is a picture of how money is flowing into or out of a stock
Chaikin Money Flow is an indicator of the behavior of large institutional investors like pension funds, mutual funds, and hedge funds without tracking their order flow (which Dark Pools tracking is all about).
