Is Brownstone Research by Jeff Brown Legit?

Brownstone Research is a new publishing company that was recently launched by Jeff Brown.

A spinoff of Bonner & Partners, Brownstone Research has been getting a lot of attention lately with many people wondering whether it is worth looking into or it was just created to get them excited for the same services.

In this review, I will be addressing this by taking a closer look at the services it offers to help you better decide whether you should try it out.

What is Brownstone Research?

Brownstone Research is a publisher of Jeff Brown’s investment research services. In the “About” page on the official website, it is described as a boutique investment research firm.

Brownstone Research Reviews

A boutique in the world of finance is a small firm that offers specialized services to a segment of the market.

It is similar to Empire Financial Research, which was started by Whitney Tilson.

Jeff’s mission is to provide his readers with quality investment advice they would otherwise not have access to, or that is usually the preserve of large institutions and high net worth individuals. Here is how he describes it:

“For too long, the best investment research has not been available to individual investors. It has been typically reserved for investment banks, hedge funds, private equity, and high-net-worth clients.

The mission of Brownstone Research is to make that kind of proprietary research available to any investors looking to gain an edge in the markets…”

As I write this, Brownstone Research offers just a handful of newsletters – four premium newsletters and one free e-letter – probably because it is just starting.

Brownstone is a branch of Bonner & Partners (the firm that previously published Jeff’s newsletters). Bonner & Partners is, in turn, a part of The Agora. Therefore, indirectly, Brownstone Research is a branch of The Agora, which also owns Agora Financial.

I know it can be confusing so you can just think of Brownstone as being part of the Agora network.

Who are the Experts?

The list of experts consists of Jeff Brown and a supporting cast of investment analysts.

Jeff Brown

Jeff Brown is the founder and the main investment analyst at Brownstone Research.

He brings close to 30 years of experience in the financial services industry with 25 spent as a high technology executive. He has worked as an executive for companies like NXP Semiconductors, Juniper Networks, and Qualcomm.

Owing to his experience, he knows a great deal about a wide range of niches within the tech industry. Examples include semiconductors, mobility, broadcasting and video technology, IT networking and security, technology infrastructure, and many other categories.

He is also an angel investor who specializes in early-stage tech companies because he has information about the industry that very few others have. His experience enables him to spot good companies months or years before the mass market knows about them.

He went to Purdue University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in aeronautical and astronautical engineering. He got his master’s in management from the London Business School.

He spent two decades working abroad, with a majority of that time spent in Tokyo. He believes that that gives him a unique global perspective that augments his trading skills.

He graduated college with a degree in accounting and went on to become a CPA while working at a Big Four accounting firm.

Joe Withrow

Joe is also an analyst at Brownstone Research. He works with Nick and Brown to research new ideas that they then recommend to their readers.

He started his career in corporate banking where he worked as a credit risk analyst in the loan section.

When the Global Financial Crisis hit, he worked in loss mitigation before he went on to manage a portfolio in the division of the special assets of a top American bank.

He discovered bitcoin in 2014 and became an early adopter and advocate of digital assets.

What services does Brownstone Research offer?

Brownstone Research offers three premium services and a free e-letter.

The Near Future Report ($199 per year)

This is the flagship advisory published by Jeff. Here is how he describes it:

“Brownstone’s flagship investment newsletter, The Near Future Report, is focused on large-capitalization technology companies that are still in growth mode and deliver outsized returns. Its model portfolio consistently outperforms the markets year after year.”

His recommendations are usually large-cap stocks that are involved in technological shifts like Artificial Intelligence, 5G, and cloud computing, just to mention a few.

He writes about innovative trends and discusses new technologies that he is tracking. More importantly, in each monthly issue of the newsletter, he shares easy-to-follow recommendations for making money from those emerging trends.

Exponential Tech Investor ($4,000 per year)

It is a specialized advisory hence the lofty price tag. Jeff uses an aggressive investment strategy to try to beat the market.

He focuses on small companies that specialize in cutting edge technology that is on the verge of mass adoption and consequently, exponential growth. Jeff describes it as…

“…an investment advisory service focused on identifying small- and micro-cap technology companies on the verge of exponential growth. These companies have the potential to be the next Apple, Amazon, or Netflix.”

To identify those companies, Jeff focuses on what he considers to be the most explosive tech trends i.e. cybersecurity, biotech, AI, and 5G, just to name a few.

In every monthly issue, he shares his new recommendations with detailed instructions and behind the scenes insights.

Early Stage Trader ($5,000 per year)

Considering how this advisory works, you’d be forgiven for confusing it with the Exponential Tech Investor. They appear to operate with the same MO i.e. they target small stocks that are likely to deliver big returns.

So, why should you spend an extra $1,000 on the Early Stage Trader? Here is how Jeff distinguishes them:

“Exponential Tech Investor focuses on small- and micro-capitalization technology companies on the bleeding edge, whereas Early Stage Trader focuses primarily on early stage, pre-revenue biotechnology companies developing novel approaches to curing human disease.”

As he explains, Early Stage Trader focuses on biotechnology stocks that are likely to deliver quick returns whereas the other service goes for tech stocks in general.

Jeff says that he relies on “a little-known market anomaly” to determine the best times to buy and sell his stocks to earn maximum profits.

Brownstone Unlimited

This is the most exclusive subscription they offer at Brownstone Research. It gives you unfettered access to all of Jeff’s current publications. You also gain access to any publication that he will release in the future.

It is a lifetime subscription, hence it doesn’t require renewal.

If you want to subscribe to the service or learn more about it, you have to call (1-888-493-3156)

The Bleeding Edge (Free newsletter)

The Bleeding Edge e-letter enables Brown to share his views about investing in technology companies.

He discusses breakthrough technologies that are being overlooked by Mainstream financial media and cover the real stories behind the headlines of the day.

Every once in a while, he also alerts his readers about a new, emerging technology that they should keep on their radar.

Examples of topics that have featured on The Bleeding Edge include the rise of cryptocurrencies, 5G adoption, developments involving Artificial Intelligence, and other breakthrough technologies.

Anything flies here as long as it has to do with exciting tech that you can invest in.

Brownstone Research Conclusion

Brownstone Research was founded by Jeff Brown, branching off Bonner & Partners. It brings you all of his premium and free advisory services.

Although I have quoted the retail prices of each of the premium newsletters as they appear on the official website, I should mention that they may change without prior warning.

You can get generous discounts on those prices if you subscribe via a presentation. For example, if you subscribe to The Near Future Report via the “Jeff Brown 5G Stock Pick” presentation, you only have to pay $49, which is a markdown from the regular charge of $199.

Bear in mind that when you subscribe to a premium service for one year, it will auto-renew for the subsequent year and deduct the fee from your credit card. Therefore, if you don’t want that to happen, ensure that you cancel your subscription before your one-year plan elapses.

Be sure to read the refund policies before you subscribe to any of these services. And while we are on the subject of refunds, do not expect a refund if you subscribe to one of the more expensive subscriptions. Instead, you will be given credit to spend on any other service offered by Jeff or his affiliates.
